Meet the team: Ben
Ben joined the team at razorblue in November and has fit into his new role with ease- even through a national lockdown!
Tell us a bit about your background…
After leaving school, I knew I wanted to work in an IT role, but I did not feel the college/ university route was right for me. I have always had a passion for technology so when I managed to secure an apprenticeship with a nationwide vehicle hire company, I was so pleased. Working there, I gained my level 3 and 4 qualifications in IT and after my apprenticeship I went onto work on the Service Desk before moving into an IT Operations role.
IT Operations was where I gained a lot of my infrastructure knowledge and there, I had the opportunity to work with key infrastructure systems which have ultimately given me the desire to work in that field of IT.
Have you worked in IT before?
Yes, I have worked in IT Since 2015, where I started my career.
What is your new role at razorblue?
My role at razorblue is Senior Client Support Engineer.
I am responsible for maintaining client infrastructure and networks, acting as an escalation point for other members of my team, working on any internal projects I can get my hands on and being extremely proactive in regard to alerts for our clients.
What attracted you to the role and the company?
I wanted to work for a company where the future excited me, in terms of both business growth and personal progression. I know already from working here nearly a month that by investing my time and skills I will gain a lot back.
The whole vibe of razorblue and what they stand for is really motivating and inspires me a lot.
What are you looking forward to the most?
New opportunities, learning new things and getting stuck in!
How do you think razorblue will help with your career progression and development?
razorblue are always keeping up to date with the latest technology developments, so I am confident that they will play a key part in helping me learn as much as possible so I can continually develop. In many IT jobs there is always room for progression but when researching companies for jobs it struck out to me that razorblue are passionate about investing in their staff, so I am confident that I will always be learning new things here which is something I enjoy a lot.
How do you keep your technical skills current?
I have recently been spending a lot of time on Microsoft Learn, developing my skills in O365 and Azure. It can get quite addictive trying to collect the certifications!
What’s your favourite gadget?
Xbox Series X
You have £3,000 to spend on anything tech. What do you buy?
It would have to be a 120Hz 4K HDR OLED TV. Take advantage of the new 120fps games!
